Tasting wine using the nose and palate is a sacramental way of getting to know the geography, the vinification methods, the grape varieties, the philosophies, the local culture, and traditions.
Using these two most neglected senses of the human body we can travel through Greece, and taste the renowned Assyrtiko, Malagouzia, Xinomavro, and Agiorgitiko varieties, together with a dozen indigenous and international grape varieties. Wines produced in the cold climate of Drama and Amyndeo, meet those of the “Mediterranean” Thessaly and Peloponnese and the volcanic Santorini.
It is a fascinating trip through sight, swirl, sniff, and taste, paired with untold stories, greek wine industry insights, and a long delicious finish.
Mr. Dimitris Spyridakos is the most renowned Greek wine influencer and one of the most influential people of his generation in the world of wine in Greece. His pioneering work on Greek wine and distillate involves a unique, enlightening, and simple, but not simplified, way of communicating wine to individuals of different backgrounds and age groups, whilst always making sure to indicate the safety measures of its consumption.
Mr. Spyridakos has collaborated with the greatest Greek wineries and has interviewed the most preeminent Greek Winemakers, Masters of Wine and Sommeliers. He has been hosted several times by national TV and radio programs to discuss his area of expertise.
One of his greatest assets is his deep knowledge of indigenous grape varieties as well as his outstanding comprehension of Greek history. Accompanied by his crew, he has traveled to the most important wine regions in Greece to present the unique varieties of each terroir. In his most recent trip abroad he was honored to be the formal representative of Greek wine to Shenzhen China.
